Evaluation

Doing street photography as a project has defiantly been and eye opening experience with pros and cons.Although i have experienced street photography briefly and lot more challenging than expected to  anything i have done before. i defiantly feel the more i did the more i learned I am gradually getting to grasps with it for example using a manual 35mm film camera was rather daunting for me but is something i am gradually becoming more and more confident, with not just manually setting the camera up but actually taking photographs with it, but also things like developing my film and printing my images was all very new to me. I've made plenty of mistakes to learn from, loading my film on to the reel incorrectly leading to the negatives to stick together, I've also made mistakes in the darkroom printing a full image too dark or too light because i haven't turned the fstops up or down to a particular setting. From my many mistakes i now feel confident i know how to correct and prevent these things from happening.
I am extremely happy with my final prints and the process that i  took to get them to this quality. I have no particular theme to my images other than the connection is street photography what i say is my images all contain some form of action being made, people caught in the moment,  my images are very contrasty and in each image it is visibly clear to who or what is the main object of focus. If i was to change anything about what i did in this project it would  try and be more confident in my own opinion rather than other people's, as i think i worried to much about the blog and people actually viewing it. There is also room for me to be more confident when going out to shoot film in a public space, i think doing this i would develop a whole new insight to how i work as an indivdual rather than having someone there as moral support.

This is image was taken in York.I like the arrangments i this photo theres a constant use of line drawing you to look further into the image past the subject.Although i like this photograph it was as pleasent to take as the woman stopped and asked what i was doing telling about the laws agaisnt taking photographs of people  these where clearly her own rules because she did not want her photo taking .

This photograph was taken in York i like this photograph simply because it looks strange and it kind makes you question what that person is doing

Final 4

I chosen this photograph as i it was artists such as Richard Sandler,Richard Bram whose photographs gave me inspiration to go and take photosgraphs such as the above.

Final 5

I chose this this photograph because on the contrasty tones and i like how the guy  is striding out of the light and into the dark.Again i thought this image would work well with my other final five.

Final 3

Final 2

I choose this image as part of my final 5 because its very sharp and detaild photo .I also felt when i viewed the image i was looking at someone with the world on his shoulders with no intrest in his surroundings but thats just me putting a meaning to the image.I also thought this photograph flowed nicely with the others.

Street photography

Another image found on flickr by Cuba galleries i really like how you are instantly drawn to the subject in the image while its surroundings blurred making it clear what's important in this photograph.

The other tribe

I am not sure whether this is the official video to this song but i like how  it looks like your watching a clips of home movies thrown together.

Jeff Gish

I found this photographerJeff Gish on flickr and i was immediatley ingriued with the image and the text the photographer had displayed with it.I think when a image has a meaning behind it,where the photographer has a real emotional connection with the subject  its makes the viewing more real. What i really like about this image is how the subjects are in the center of the image and the surroundings displaying really dark tones creating a cold and errie feeling drawing you  directly to focus upon them.

Contact nine

contact eight

Not very happy with this contact some of the images are barely visable and personally i dont like the images i've captured on this roll.

Contact seven

Contact six

Another shoot in York and one i did fairly quickly only to realise after that i had not changed the shutter speed which was on a 1/1000 exposing the film for longer and letting more light in.The upside to this is my images a viewable  some very bright but can be used.

contact one

This is my very first contact sheet, this shoot and was taking in Hartlepool with a 150mm lens.Although my images are clear and visable i feel they look very bland and dull and personally  i would not use the same lens again .

Johnny Stiletto

This is an image taken from the book vintage 80s by photographer Johnny Stiletto. There's a selection of photographs by this photographer which are rather comical I'm not sure whether there meant to be such as the above, this has to be one i admire most.To me this looks as though it was meant to be a low key meeting therefore a bad situation to be in with a very "manly" looking women when some guy comes along a takes a very none discreet photo.I personally think street photography is an exciting experience and is all about timing, being in the right place at the right time such as this.

Richard Sandler

Marilyn Monroe in New York

These photographs are taken  from the book Marilyn in New york,Schirmer/Mosel

Not so much street photography but both photographs have either New York as a backdrop or  the subway as a background so very slightly street.Ive uploaded them  as they have my two favourite things New york and Marilyn Monroe.

A photographers influence

This photograph is one of my first prints which needs to be printed again as the subject could do with being lighter. Here i am showing how a photographer you admire can influence your own work or how you take a photograph maybe.Robert Doisneau is one of my favourite photographers and i am happy that my work has a minor connection or similarity to his.

The above image is my own.

This picture  above is taken from the book Icon,Robert Doisneau by Jean-Claude Gautrand.

Contact five

Although there a some visable images on this contact its disappointing when you have spent a day taking photographs for them to turn out  like this.I'm aware of why this happened and next time i should double check that film has loaded on the reel correctly then maybe they won't stick together. On the upside the first negative image is one i like most..

Lou Diollon - I.C.U
I found this video while browsing youtube for directors which where suggested in Vogue .I have never heard of the artist Lou doillion. While watching the clip/video i thought it kind of linked in with the street photography i have been doing which involves me taking photographs from the waist down.

Final print one

I choose this as one of my final prints as its one i find intriuging i feel when i view this image you become a apart of it not literally but in a the sense your viewing the background of the image through the subjects eyes. Also theres a use of shallow depth leaving hime very much in focus with the use of light and dark tones.

Contact four

contact three

Although i have no particular theme to my street images i was kind of inspired by artists like Richard Sandler who take images from the waist down.so for this shoot i put inspiration into action.

contact two

This contact is one i like most so far ,there is variety of action on each negative and I'm fairly pleased with it because due to the sun  i was able to capture shadows adding contrasting elements to my photos.
